NEWCOMER SURVEY

The Government of Canada through the Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada provided the City of Sault Ste. Marie with funding to create a Local Immigration Partnership in our community intended to research and improve services for newcomers to Sault Ste. Marie.

We ask that if you are a recent newcomer to Sault Ste. Marie that you please take a few minutes and fill out the following questionnaire. This will help the Local Immigration Partnership to gather further information about existing services and how we can improve on these services to help you through the process of moving to Sault Ste. Marie. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and we would like to thank you for taking some time to help our City develop in assisting newcomer to Sault Ste. Marie.

The Columbus Centre received funding for an educational project to commemorate the WWII internment of Italian-Canadians. This is the latest project funded by the Community Historical Recognition Program from Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

This new website has current employment data and information on the key economic and industrial sectors in Toronto. From the Toronto Workforce Innovation Group.

Starting in August 2010, the Ontario government will enforce new drinking and driving laws. For example, if you are 21 years old or younger, you must have 0% blood alcohol while driving. The penalties for drinking and driving are also tougher.

Skilled immigrants in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) are invited to participate in research about the challenges newcomers face to get settled in a new position. If you want to participate, read this for more information.

According to the Lifesaving Society of Canada, new Canadians, especially if you have been in Canada for less than 5 years, have a higher risk of drowning while boating or swimming. Get tips to keep you and your family safe around water.
